What's New! (as of April 1)

Once again, we've been very busy this past year on the racing side and anything but on the comics side. But as this marks the 20th anniversary of the "Big Bang" which made the Unions a public entity, let's bring you up to date on what's been going on Unions-wise.

Brad "Chip" Pope Makes Big Screen Debut

Brad 'Chip' Pope

That's right, "Austin Stories" alumnus and Unions flag-waver Brad Pope is now a bona fide movie star!

Sort of.

He appears in a "cameo" role early in the new Paramount-Nickelodeon teen sci-fi movie Clockstoppers, which premiered nationwide March 29. Look for him about 8 minutes into the film as the "confused freshman" (as he is credited) in the college classroom with Zac's dad. As he says, it wasn't a stretch. Look for him again later this year in the Al Pacino movie Simone. Could the Unions MTV T-shirt be far behind?

The Unions sponsors 3rd Annual Memo Gidley Karting Clinic

The 3nd Annual Memo Gidley Karting Clinic took place January 5-6 at Windward Mall in Kaneohe, HI, continuing a traditional holiday event with CART's reigning "Supersub." As part of the Unions' ongoing support of the Pacific Karting Club, we again helped bring Memo and his 125 cc shifter kart over for two days of hands-on instruction with local karting enthusiasts. Memo is now back on the mainland, scouring the CART and IRL paddocks as usual in search of that elusive full-time ride and trying to put together a deal for a third attempt at the Indy 500.

The Unions patches are on the way

In time for Indianapolis (and the annual donning of the Nomex to work pit lane during the 500), we have commissioned a batch of embroidered patches with the Unions text logo, suitable for any fabric application. These will measure 4 1/2" w x 1" h and come with blue or black background fabric, with the letters in white and the Rover logo in full color. We expect to have these in stock by the end of April.

We still have plenty of these embroidered gems available. The Rover logo appears as a stunning 3.25" diameter, 8000 stitch work of art on this 100% pre-shrunk heavyweight cotton pique shirt. Available in M, L and XL sizes and in red, green, storm blue and royal blue. Please inquire for pricing and ordering information.

STU-PIN-DOUS!

Unions Lapel Pin

This gold-toned "Poly-Kote" enamel lapel pin, produced by SRE Industries in California, features the Rover logo in all its multicolored glory. Actual size is 1" diameter, with a clear coat surface to inhibit corrosion. Stick Rover on your lapel, shirt, tie, cap, wherever - just show the world you're proud of being a Unions fan! E-mail for details on ordering your pin.

Sketch of Rover Jackson

Here's a quick ten-minute sketch I did of Rover using Fractal Design Dabbler software and a Wacom ArtPad drawing tablet. Much of the artwork found at this site came directly off my PC and into cyberspace.

Aren't computers wonderful?
